Comparing Contents Pages

After looking at my first draft, I realised I only had to make a few adjustments. I did this by adding a title to the top photograph to make it seem even. By adding in the title, it also covers up the empty space under the title. The last thing I did was that I moved the page numbers to the top right corner to make it seem neater. but then realised that i looked plain and boring so i looked back at my research and looked at how they placed page numbers. I then changed the titles of the sections and made them capital letters as well as the title of the pages. I then added a grey box to make it look more interesting.  I then changed the title of the page to make it more like my research which i think makes it look more professional. I am extremely happy with my contents page as I used my skills to the best of my ability. I feel it looks professional and like an actual music magazine. Also I feel it meets my target audience as it doesn’t look too childish and it involves thing that my target audience are interested in reading.

Final Edits for Contents Page

These are all of the problems I noticed about my magazine, I noticed that the top of the page was too empty and needed to be covered. I realised that the writing that says ‘THE POWER OF 5 BOYS!’ is the title of the arena picture and so I should do that for the picture above. I then noticed that the page numbers on the pictures were placed roughly.

To improve the number placement, I put the page numbers in the top right corner to make it look more organised.

Then to fill in empty space at the top of the first photograph, I added a title like I did for the picture underneath.

After looking at what I thought was my finished contents page, I then noticed even more improvements that needed to be made.

I made the title of each section in capital letters to make it so the spacing in the red box was more even. I also noticed that on my research that they had full red boxes and capital letters and so I did the same. In addition, they added a grey box over one section of the writing and so I decided to do the same.

Looking back at my research, I realised that they had the title of each page in capitals so I decided to do the same. In addition, the spacing between the line and the numbers and the words had to be made bigger.

I then noticed that the numbers were not in line with the writing and so I had to change that to make it look more professional.

I then noticed that my title did not seem right and needed to be changed. I looked back at my research and noticed that the red banner went all across the page and so I did the same. However, I wanted to make the magazine my own so instead of having the ‘v’ inside the banner, I had it larger to make it look more artistic.

I then realised that the mage numbers did not look right and so I looked back to my research and saw that one of the contents pages had the numbers the way I have to make it artistic and fun to read instead of plain and simple.

I then thought that the titles of the pictures did not look right and so I made the spacing around it more even and removed the line underneath and it made it look over crowded.

Proof for First Draft Contents Page

The first thing I did was make the title for my contents page. I did this by putting the ‘V’ in the top left corner to remind the reader what magazine they are reading and then created a red box with contents written in white next to it. I did it red, as the main colour for this magazine is white.

I then added a boarder to make it my own personal design. It also makes the page look more creative. It also makes it look more like a contents page instead of a poster.

I then placed the picture that I had previously taken of my model. I placed it where I believe is the most appropriate place. I also added to page number I wanted it to be.

I then added another picture that I had taken at a concert. I did this to fill in the empty space at the bottom of the page.

I then did some research of my own about the 5 boys I had written about. I wrote a small review and information about the band, which I thought the reader might like to read. I wrote it under the picture as the picture is linked to the writing. I had shown this by adding an arrow. This also makes it seem creative. I then added the number of the page I wanted that article to be on.

I then added all of the information needed on a contents page, including page numbers, titles, and a little bit of information about that article underneath.

At first I thought my contents page was finished, but then I realised it looks quite plain and empty so I added lines on top and underneath the titles and a boarder around the contents box.

Hand Drawings for Contents Page

This is the first drawing I made for my contents page. Overall, I do not like this one because I feel it looks very unprofessional and it needs a lot of work done to it.

This is the second drawing I made and there are some aspects I like including adding the ‘V’ next to contents as that what it looks like in my research, and I like that the numbers are right next to the writing, however, I made the mistake of putting the writing over the other side of the page.

With this drawing, I made the ‘V’ thicker which works well with the page and it matches my research. The problem with this drawing is that I feel there is too much empty space that needs to be covered.

This is the last drawing I made and this shows exactly how I want my contents page to look. Once I made this, I feel I need to experiment more with the title as it may need some adjustments.

Photograph for Contents Page

These are all of the pictures i had taken for my music magazine contents page and i looked through them thoroughly and found the one i thought was best for my contents page.

Photo Manipulation

When looking at this picture I notice a number of corrections that need to be made.

The first thing I noticed was that the photo itself was too dark and so I had to edit its levels to make it brighter.

I then had to crop the photo, as it was too large and would cover space that may be needed. In addition, I had to crop out the object that was in the background.

I then thought the picture itself would look better in black and white as it looks more mysterious as the story is about a new artist.
